







perfect dress for herself so she decided to design it. A very dear friend, Monir
Zhandghoreishi, made the gown for her. April did her part by making the lace
for the bottom of the dress. At one of the dress fittings, Monir inquired about
what type of veil she would wear. However, April had no intention of wearing
a veil for her wedding. After several conversations and a couple more fittings,
Monir finally draped a piece of tulle on top of April’s head and told
her to look into the mirror. April was sold! She wanted to wear a veil! Much
like her gown, she could not find exactly what she wanted in a veil. She then
decided to design and make her veil. Some weeks later, April had completed her
first wedding veil! Friends soon started asking April to make veils for them
and the demand grew. With the unwavering support of her husband, she decided
to start her own business. April continues to explore new ways of creating the
perfect accessory and loves to work with brides who want that something special
for their wedding day.
April Donato started April E. Design in 2005. She starting sewing
as soon as she was able to put a needle and thread together. At the age of 7
she received her first sewing machine from her baby sitter. The baby sitter
saw that she had an insatiable appetite for creating things and decided to donate
her old fold down style White sewing machine to the young seamstress. April
logged many hours on the machine through the years and it helped cement her
love for design. After finishing Fashion Design at the Art Institute of Seattle,
she took the path of most designers and worked in the industry for several years.
April interned for the Brass Plum at Nordstrom and then moved on to designing
porcelain dolls for Disney. Eventually April went to work for Cutter & Buck
as an Assistant Technical Designer. While gaining experience in fashion design
and traveling the world, April managed to fall in love with a wonderful man.
They set a date to be married and life was in full swing. Like many women out
